Flushless Slurry Seal for Solids Handling Applications
Single cartridge, stationary multi-spring, for open and taper-bore seal chambers
The Style RKCMS is engineered for demanding slurry pumping services across mining and mineral processing, lime slurries, and salt-precipitating solutions. Its single-cartridge design installs on open and taper-bore seal chambers, with abrasion- and corrosion-resistant wetted materials for long service life in aggressive process conditions.
- Flushless operation: Single-face sealing of high-solids slurries, up to 40% by weight, in taper-bore seal chambers, with no external flush required.
- Engineered for harsh service: Abrasion- and corrosion-resistant materials, FlexICE™ diamond face treatment options, and a large open cavity on the atmospheric side of the faces keeps solids from building up quickly.
- Easy fitment, simple maintenance: A compact cross-section drops onto common pump platforms including ANSI and other general process pumps, with wet and dry mount gland configurations to fit a wide range of pump arrangements.
Features & Specs
Product Overview | Single Cartridge Flushless Slurry Seal
The Style RKCMS addresses one of the harder problems in slurry sealing: keeping faces cool and intact, while removing the cost, complexity, and water consumption of an external flush. The compact, single-cartridge construction installs on ANSI pumps and other common pump platforms that are in solids-handling services.

The keys to success with this seal:
- Lubricating, heat-dissipating face materials that hold up in high-solids environments where general-purpose face materials do not shed heat quickly enough.
- A separate inboard face retainer that lets harder, application-specific wear materials drop in without cartridge-level redesign or cost penalty.
- Atmosphere-side spring loading that isolates all springs from the process and prevents pump hydraulics from imparting unbalanced loads on the faces.
- Stationary multi-spring construction that compensates for shaft runout and seal chamber misalignment common in older or refurbished pump installations.
- Hardened set screws sized to hold under high-pressure service and in series-pump arrangements where standard fasteners back out under load.
- Wet and dry mount gland options that adapt the seal to open, taper-bore, and conventional seal chambers across mixed pump fleets.
Tailored Solutions for Demanding Services
The Style RKCMS can be configured with optional features for service-specific requirements, including:
-
- FlexICE™ diamond face treatment for dry-running and heavy-abrasive services
- Tungsten carbide face options where silicon carbide is not the recommended choice
- FFKM, EPDM, or FKM elastomers for chemically aggressive process fluids
- Outboard quench containment with low-pressure water flush or grease quench to capture and remove solids that migrate past the faces
- High chrome or Duplex/Super-Duplex Stainless metal parts for abrasive and corrosive process environments

Design Features
- Engineered Slurry-Duty Face Materials
Face Materials combine lubricating and heat-dissipating properties selected to extend face life under abrasive slurry loads. - Cushioned Monolithic Rotary Face
The one-piece, O-ring mounted rotary face absorbs vibration and pressure pulses for stable operation in aggressive process environments. - Separate Inboard Face Retainer
A dedicated retainer accommodates harder, application-specific wear materials without driving up overall cost. - Large Open Inner Seal Area
The open inner seal area keeps solids from packing around the primary face, preventing face hangup and heat buildup. - Large Cross-Section Stator O-Ring
The stator O-ring rides on the polished face surface for full range of face motion, with open retainer geometry that keeps solids out. - Optional FlexICE™ Diamond Face Treatment
Diamond-coated faces extend service life in dry-running and heavy-abrasive applications where standard face materials wear quickly. - Wet and Dry Mount Gland Configurations
Two gland configurations simplify fitment across open and taper-bore seal chambers and mixed pump fleets. - Hardened Set Screws
Heat-treated set screws hold their grip under high-pressure service and in series-pump applications. - Outboard Quench Containment
A lip seal contains a low-pressure water flush or grease quench that captures any solids passing the faces. - Static Multi-Spring Design
Heavy-duty springs isolated on the atmosphere side prevent hydraulic forces in the pump from imparting unbalanced loads on the faces.
